Here are some things that I found interesting on the TV show Extra.

The dos and don'ts to lowering Breast Cancer:

It has been proven that taking 2 Ibuprofen or aspirin for 5 years can decrease your chances of Breast Cancer by 20% percent. It's been proven that aspirin exactly decrease your body's estrogen which is the hormone that fuels Breast Cancer. 85% percent of Breast Cancer is driven and fueled by estrogen.

Try to avoid foods with high levels of estrogen such as soy, yams, even milk, any hormone fuel products.

Red meat is another hormone fuel product, it is recommended to eat lean meat.  Leaner is better but limit your red meat.  Fish is better and salmon that is wild not farm raised is better.

Caffeine can cause Breast cist in certain women that are rarely cancer or breast pain. If you don't have breast pain you're okay. Breast density is known to increase breast cancer to 4-6 times. Women with dense breast have a harder time detecting cancer with a mammogram. The reason being is because cancer is white and dense Breast is white so this makes it hard to detect. In those cases it's better to have a sonogram or MRI.   See more on extratv.com/think pink

Do you know that 1 out of 8 women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer?  Do you know that highest rate of deaths from Breast cancer is in African American women? Get your check up and mammograms. Do your self-exams men and women. Men have been known to get Breast cancer, too.  U T Southwestern is offering mammograms and will go to where you are with their mammogram mobile. Just call Gloria Espinosa at 214-645-4673, ask the operators to connect you with the Mammogram mobile. Susan Komen has partnered with UT Southwestern to provide mammograms to those who don't have health insurance. You have to call to see if you qualify, make the call and get yourself checked out.

There is also another grant called TBCCS which is Texas Breast Cancer and Cervical Cancer Service. The federal government has this grant for those women who cannot afford treatment after diagnoses. Go to www.myfoxdfw.com and you will find more information. This information was provided on Saturday, October 17, 2009 on the Walk for the Cure.

Breast Cancer is affecting more women each day.  Without knowledge we will not be able to stop this epidemic.  Find out all you can and take it to your neighborhood.  Look on sites such as the Susan G. Komen website http://ww5.komen.org/ for resources and what you can do to help yourself and those you love and also those in your community.  Get involved and make a difference.

You know that eating right is the best thing you can do for yourself.  It helps in all areas not only physically but emotionally too.  Eating well does not have to be expensive you just have to put more effort in choosing the right foods.  I have learned in having cancer that my recovery depends on the foods that I eat and exercise.  One thing that we don't know is that all the foods these days have been injected with hormones and antibiotics to make the animals produce quicker and bigger.  All these chemicals are in our foods and they are not good for our bodies but if we don't know how can we do anything about it.  Here something to ponder on:  Girls who normally started their menstrual cycle when they were thirteen or fourteen years old are now days starting at nine or ten years old.  Have you noticed that our children are maturing quicker than before?  We have to take notice to all this and our foods are the reason. Here are the things that I am doing for me and my family and I thought it might help you.

Red Meats (beef, pork, venison, buffalo, goat, lamb, etc.) should be eaten no more than twice a week.  If you are buying ground beef it should be 93/7 or above.  The leaner the meat the better.  Organic chicken is the best without the skin.

65 grams of protein in your diet and 64 oz of fluids.

I buy the Boar's Head lunch meat which you can buy at Market Street.

My diet consist of plenty of vegetables and fruit every day.  I don't eat can fruit or vegetables just fresh or frozen.

Bread - Nature's Own 100% wheat .  Brown rice even wheat spaghetti pasta.

I drink natural fruit juices, tea and water.

I buy all my food at Market Street because they have hormone free meat.  Also,  eat fish like shrimp, tilapia and salmon but it has to be wild salmon not farm raised because that is injected.

Another thing I do is take vitamins such as Fish Oil (twice a day), iron (3 times a day), vitamin D (twice a day) and a multivitamin.

You have to do all you can to make your body work correctly because the bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:19 (Amplified Bible)

"Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own".

Now if we are all sick and not taking care of our bodies like God want us to how can He visit us?
